Susan decided to ‘give yoga a try’ over 5 years ago while looking for a way to deal with the stress of managing a demanding data analytics job, caring for older parents, and striving to be a good wife, mom, friend and community volunteer. Although Susan admits she didn’t really see herself as a ‘yoga girl’, she happily found yoga gave her the perfect approach to slow down, take some nourishing time for herself, find some healthy movement in her body and learn about the power of breath! As Susan states, “Yoga gave me permission and a method to mindfully release from all the ‘have to dos’ for a bit and become a calmer version of myself so I could be my best for others.” In the Fall of 2018 Susan completed her comprehensive 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training under the leadership of Kim Saunders (Lift Yoga) and began sharing her love of yoga with others while completing advanced teacher training in Yoga for Older Adults (Asheville Yoga Center), Yin Yoga (Decatur Yoga and Pilates) and Yoga for Bone Health - Fishman Method (Diane Duane). Susan welcomes all levels, ages and body types in her classes and loves guiding alignment and variations to be safe and to get the most benefit from a pose, but always encourages her students to be aware of their unique anatomy and how their body feels that day as they practice. Susan truly believes that yoga is NOT about ‘performing’ a pose or even flexibility, but about moving and opening your body which also creates ease and openness in your heart and your mind. Join Susan in a class not to get better at yoga, but to get better at living!
