SEJAL SHAH

200 RYT

Sejal has been practicing yoga on and off since childhood; recalling as a toddler practicing with her grandfather in the living room, copying and giggling at the sounds of his pranayama techniques and toppling over as she attempted her headstand next to his.   During her time in California, she began practicing yoga regularly, learning many different styles; Iyengar, Bikram, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa, reconnecting to her childhood yoga experiences.  While there, she studied and obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, which has influenced the emphasis she weaves into her classes on mindfulness in motion, alignment, and breathing and how these impact our ability for self-reflection and our ability for self-care.

The yoga studio; much like the therapy room, is a sacred safe space to unpack, unfold and bear witness to allow the self to emerge so that a reconnection to the whole Self can occur.  Recalibrating though mindfulness practices she believes will create clarity in the mind, body and soul so that we can live each moment in joy and vibrancy, untethering ourselves from where we feel bound.  She believes that continual practice on the mat naturally leads to having a foundation of peace and grace constructed within, helping to bring this practice off the mat, even in the midst of chaos and activity; as we interact with the world.
